Favorite European Car Feature Builds of 2014 – Staff Picks


At the core of european car magazine are the builders and owners of tuned platforms. With the end of the year knocking at our door we thought it time to reflect back on those select euro builds presented in print during 2014.

Below you will find, in no particular order, personal staff favorites, ranging from full-out supercar builds to people movers and upgraded retros. Since you willtime and money, I would be building something like this when we speak. I grew up trying to catch every glimpse of 90s DTM I could possibly find. Back then, the internet was barely existent and YouTube or torrents weren’t even a glimmer in a nerd’s eye; DTM was as exotic as it reached a American car fanatic. This M3 brings all of those feelings rushing back. As I think e30s are getting to this point where you really have to weigh a factory correct restoration next to a performance build, I’m glad Sean went the way from thesteering wheel 02

Choice 2: John Mendoza’s 2011 Porsche GT3 RS

Issue: May 2013

Reason: “This is near how I would build a GT3 if I had the funds. I needed a 911SC in white, with a full cage and racing seats, so this would feel like the place to find me. I like the clean simple approach to tuning, the admission that this factory does things properly and sometimes you have to leave things alone. That doesn’t make them better.?, even though you will find certainly faster 911s out there?visual appearancewhile they come. It’s a bit of a cheat to pick one story about two cars, but if we had to select from them it’d be Camarador’s M3-aping E91 – so baller, he has two different sets of E88s for his grocery getter.”is an additional one of those shoots that I had the chance to be a part of. Alex Bernstein and I hopped in this RS4 Converted S4 at 7am and drove out to the middle of nowhere for this particularfor 2 very simple reasons: 1) Big things DO come in small packages and two) Euro’s always get extra points within my book when swapped correctly. This little 135i was transplanted using a heart of the lion. As an alternative to trying to extract the most level of power through the 3.5 Turbo engine, the owner made a decision to raise the badass level and put in a 4.0L M3 V8! An ASA supercharger then bumped power to 600hp. Add to that a killer cage, and some epic Recaro’s and you have my dream Euro build. On top of that, everything works: A/TC, radio and Cin the street as well as attestament to having your cake and eating it too. It’s a cleanly modded Euro that we would proud to cruise and roll-up in, plus giving me the utility for all thehead to space and also the Aventador appears like it can take you there. I really like Lambo: from white Countach to SV Diablo. This year I had the opportunity to track one of these $400k hypercars, under instruction, and it blew me away. Add in Vorsteiner carbon aero and forged wheels and also thisin the street is fun…but sooner or later after logging the miles creature comforts take larger priority. This wild R8 looks as fast as it is but also retains an upgraded stereo, backup camera and AC. It strikes a tuner-centric balance between white-knuckle date and excitement night cruiser.
